Give the gift
of literacy
Sometimes the simplest gift can make the biggest impact. Everybody needs to read, yet 25,495 adults in Kalamazoo County cannot. Many struggle to read to their children, fill out a job application or understand medical information. Learn more about our annual campaign, and where our dollars go or make a tax-deductible donation now.
Donate to the KLC
The KLC is 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax deductible. Thank you for your support!
The Kalamazoo Literacy Council (KLC) is establishing an endowment at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation to ensure adult literacy services will be well-supported long into the future.
Donate to the KLC’s endowment fund
The KLC established an endowment at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation to ensure adult literacy services will be well-supported long into the future.
Thanks to the generosity of Julie and Keith Lewandowski, up to $5,000 will be matched dollar-for-dollar to establish this fund by June 30, 2020.
The KLC welcomes charitable gifts from forward-looking donors. Planned giving involves providing a future gift through your financial or estate plans. Often, a planned (deferred) gift can be more substantial than what you might be able to donate as an outright gift.
By including us in your long-term giving, you will become part of a legacy society whose generosity enhances healthcare for people in our community today, tomorrow and forever. There are many options for planned giving. Planning your donation takes careful consideration. When you begin planning, you should consult an attorney, certified public accountant or other tax professional. If you have included KLC in your will or would like more information about how to do so, please contact us.
Giving societies
The Kalamazoo Literacy Council (KLC) recognizes the generosity of our donors through established giving societies. Below are the generous donors who donated to the KLC in 2018.
Annual scrabble fest
2020 marks the 10th year of the Kalamazoo SCRABBLE Fest! Covid-19 public health concerns meant we’ve postponed the event until 2021. Please read our statement below.
We look forward to seeing you next year for this annual FUNdraiser, which generates awareness and funds to support 100% free literacy services for adults across Kalamazoo County.
In the meantime, check out this short video from the 5th Annual Kalamazoo SCRABBLE Fest!
