Community Literacy Centers
Community Literacy Centers (CLC) have been hosted in a variety of community settings including churches, schools, workplaces, community centers, housing complexes, homeless shelters, and other public places adult learners turn to for help. The CLC model is designed to be:
- Flexible and adaptable to the unique needs of each site and the learning goals of students
- Affordable and cost-effective both to the host site and the adult learners it serves
- Sustainable as an ongoing operation utilizing existing community resources and leveraging these resources to encourage additional support
- Capable of achieving results by providing effective outreach to adult learners who want to improve their literacy skills and connecting them to trained tutors, educational materials and other resources that will help them grow.
