The Kalamazoo Literacy Council (KLC) is excited to announce a partnership with Wax Wings Brewing Company for a special fundraiser during Kalamazoo Craft Beverage Week, January 12-21, 2024. During the week, Wax Wings has generously pledged to donate $1 from every draft or to-go can of their mouthwatering Kalamazoo Skyline IPA to support literacy programs in our community.
The Kalamazoo Skyline IPA is “as fresh as you can get it,” and is a testament to Wax Wings’ dedication to crafting exceptional beers inspired by their love for the city of Kalamazoo. Brewed with the utmost care and attention to detail, this IPA is a double dry-hopped masterpiece bursting with the vibrant flavors of Citra hops, offering a soft, balanced, and juicy experience with refreshing waves of citrus and pine. With a 7% ABV, it promises to be a delightful treat for craft beer enthusiasts.
By enjoying a pint of the Kalamazoo Skyline IPA, beer lovers will not only savor a remarkable brew but also contribute to the KLC’s mission. Proceeds from this collaboration will directly support free programs that empower adults to reach their full potential by developing strong reading, writing, and spelling skills, which enhances their opportunities for success as parents, employees and community members.
“We are thrilled to partner with Wax Wings for this exciting fundraiser that kicks off our 50th anniversary celebration,” said Michael Evans, Executive Director of the KLC. “This collaboration exemplifies the spirit of community engagement and highlights the importance of supporting local agencies that help transform lives.”
To wrap up Kalamazoo Craft Beverage Week, the KLC will host a family-friendly event on Sunday January 21, from 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at Wax Wings, 3480 Gull Rd. in Kalamazoo. Join us for an afternoon with games, activities, storytime, and free books. The event will also feature a special appearance by the Kalamazoo Public Library and the Fresh Food Fairy, adding an extra touch of fun and excitement. Come out and raise a glass of Kalamazoo Skyline IPA while contributing to a great cause.
The KLC is a non profit organization dedicated to promoting adult literacy in Kalamazoo County through programs that empower adults to reach their full potential. We offer free tutoring and classes for native English speakers and English language learners who aspire to enhance their reading, writing, and spelling skills. Through our efforts, we also aim to educate the public about the crisis of low literacy. For more about the KLC, visit kalamazooliteracy.org.
