Save the date for the 7th Annual Kalamazoo SCRABBLE® Fest! The Kalamazoo Literacy Council (KLC) is hosting the event on April 8, 2017, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Bell’s Eccentric Café. This event will raise awareness of adult literacy as well as help raise funds to strengthen and expand adult literacy services for adults who struggle to read. Last year, more than 100 players attended the event raising more than $13,000 to support the KLC. We hope to have an even greater event this year.
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Literacy Center Open House
Join the Kalamazoo Literacy Council in celebrating our newest literacy center at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. The Open House is from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th, 2016. There will be information about the services provided at the literacy center as well as information about the adjacent ESL of Southwest Michigan program.

The Kalamazoo Literacy Council (KLC) is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global giving movement that has been driven by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. Since its founding in 2012, millions of people have come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
Documentary and panel to focus on literacy crisis in America
A film screening and panel discussion about the documentary “Making America Read” will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, 300 Portage Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
