Child care legislation aims to grow access, create incentives for industry

Governor Gretchen Whitmer and a group of bipartisan lawmakers held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to unveil a package of bills aimed at increasing access to child care services, particularly for working families.

Idy Cheng is originally from Hong Kong, China, and moved to Kalamazoo from Pennsylvania, with her two children, over 10 years ago. She has studied with the KLC through our ESL of Southwest Michigan program since June of 2020.

Walking for 30 minutes a day or more on most days of the week is a great way to improve or maintain your overall health. If you can’t manage 30 minutes a day, remember that even a little is better than none so try to go for a shorter walk if you can.

Reduce the amount of sugary drinks you consume. Start by choosing drinks with few or no calories. Water is best. This will help to prevent heart disease.
